Fortuna Düsseldorf leadership to step down following relegation

Fortuna Düsseldorf is facing a major leadership restructuring within its supervisory board. Chairman Björn Borgerding, deputy Sebastian Fuchs, and board member Dirk Böcker have announced they will not seek re-election at the upcoming general meeting on November 15.

The decision follows a period of sporting decline for the club, which included the dismissal of coach Friedhelm Funkel and relegation to the 3. Liga. In a joint statement, the departing officials expressed a desire for a “personnel new beginning” and acknowledged that certain past decisions would be made differently in hindsight.

The upcoming election will see five positions up for grabs. Several candidates have already submitted applications for the new board, including Steffen Greubel, Michael Busch, and Marius Berlemann.
