Forum Proteine der Zukunft auf den Teller presents position paper

The Forum Proteine der Zukunft auf den Teller has presented a position paper to Federal Minister Alois Rainer, outlining recommendations to foster innovation in alternative proteins. The forum advocates for science-based frameworks, increased research funding, the creation of innovation clusters, and efficient approval processes while maintaining food safety standards. The group specifically argues against restrictions on common naming conventions for plant-based meat alternatives.

Established in November 2024 as part of the German government's protein plant strategy, the forum consists of approximately 40 stakeholders across the value chain. It aims to strengthen the diversity of protein sources in human nutrition and advance sustainable food systems. The forum's activities are coordinated by the Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety (BLE) within the Competence Center for Future Proteins.
