Forus raises $150M to deploy AI agents for medical prescriptions

Healthcare technology developer Forus has secured $150 million in Series C financing, bringing its total cumulative equity financing past $300 million and establishing a $3 billion valuation. The funding round was led by Bain Capital Ventures and included reinvestment from existing institutional backers such as Thrive Capital, General Catalyst, Accel, and Redpoint.

Founded in 2023 by Sahir Jaggi, Forus utilizes an artificial intelligence platform to coordinate the healthcare supply chain. The company aims to address administrative friction in specialty medicine, noting that approximately one in three patients prescribed high-cost or complex therapies never receive their initial dose due to hurdles like prior authorization and financial clearance.

The platform assigns an autonomous AI agent to every qualifying prescription. These agents function as automated case managers, reasoning through medical records, insurance rules, and financial assistance options to streamline the fulfillment path. This process includes accelerating prior authorization times from weeks to under 48 hours and connecting patients with manufacturer copay cards or grants in real time. Forus currently supports patients across all 50 U.S. states.
