Forza Horizon 2 receives unofficial fan-made PC port

An unofficial fan-made PC port of the racing game Forza Horizon 2 has been released, offering a potential solution for game preservation. Developed by the user ‘Almost There Games’ and hosted on Itch.io, the project—titled ‘Azimuth’—allows the title to run on Windows using DirectX 12.

Originally released in 2014 as an Xbox 360 and Xbox One exclusive, the game has faced availability issues due to expiring music and car licenses. The new port functions as a launcher that requires users to already own the original game files.

Performance reports indicate the port is well-optimized, running at 720p/60 fps or 1080p/30 fps on devices like the Steam Deck. The version includes graphical enhancements over the original console versions, such as improved shadows, reflections, car models, and texture filtering, alongside adjustable anti-aliasing options.
