Blue Pact of the Two Seas expands to include Ancona
The Blue Pact of the Two Seas has transitioned from a bilateral agreement between Livorno and Rimini into a national network. During the Ecomondo event at the Rimini Fair, the city of Ancona officially joined the accord, establishing a foundation for shared coastal governance.
The initiative, promoted by the Municipality of Livorno, the Municipality of Rimini, and the Biennale del Mare e dell’Acqua, aims to address common challenges regarding climate change adaptation and water resource protection. Representatives from the three coastal cities expressed a commitment to sharing research and best practices to foster sustainable territorial development.
The expansion serves as a precursor to the 2027 Blu Livorno event. The pact focuses on creating a structured collaboration model for coastal municipalities to manage environmental and economic resources effectively.
