Forza Italia mayors in Sicily meet to discuss local funding and political strategy
More than 70 Forza Italia mayors from Sicily gathered in Aci Castello for a regional meeting organized by party commissioner Nino Minardo. The discussions focused on the financial and organizational challenges facing local municipalities, upcoming regional and state budget maneuvers, and political strategies for future elections.
National Secretary and Deputy Prime Minister Antonio Tajani participated via video link, describing mayors as the “soul” of the party and the primary image of their cities. Tajani pledged to act as a bridge to Rome and emphasized the importance of defending European cohesion funds, which are vital for the development of Southern Italy and Sicily.
Minardo highlighted critical issues including the need for increased financial transfers to municipalities, staff shortages, funding for social and educational services, and the completion of projects under the PNRR. The party aims to establish a permanent connection between local administrators, regional representatives, and parliamentarians to ensure mayors are involved in decision-making processes beyond election campaigns.
