Forza Italia members warn of division in Campania congress

Members of the Forza Italia party in Campania are raising alarms regarding the upcoming regional congress, warning that it risks becoming a “farsa” (farce) due to internal divisions and procedural irregularities.

A joint statement signed by deputies Pino Bicchielli and Annarita Patriarca, Senator Raffaele De Rosa, and regional councilor Livio Petitto denounces a climate of tension and confusion across the province. The signatories argue that the congress is being reduced to a mere “conta tra pacchetti di tessere” (counting of membership cards) rather than a meaningful political debate. They expressed concern over uncertainties regarding the actual number of eligible members and criticized the use of informal methods, such as collecting signatures via WhatsApp.

Former deputy and Undersecretary of State Nello Di Nardo echoed these concerns, calling for a “congresso vero” (real congress) that is participatory and unitary. Di Nardo warned that while a congress can be won through numbers, it can be lost politically if it fails to build a stronger, more united political community. He urged leadership to prioritize the party's general interest over internal factions and candidacies, advocating for clear and transparent rules.
