Forza Italia Tivoli faces internal dispute over local secretariat dissolution
Internal conflict has emerged within the Forza Italia party in Tivoli following the dissolution of the local secretariat and the appointment of Franco Spoto as commissioner. Former secretary Giorgio Strafonda has called for transparency regarding the decision, questioning its adherence to the party's statutes.
Strafonda noted that according to Article 72 of the Forza Italia statute, a commissioner can only be appointed under “grave reasons,” such as administrative irregularities, an inability to function, or failure to meet national political directives. He argued that the communication from Regional Secretary Claudio Fazzone cited only generic needs for territorial strengthening and organizational relaunch, rather than the specific legal grounds required by the party rules.
While the new commissioner, Franco Spoto, stated the decision followed long-standing internal divisions and a motion of no confidence, Strafonda has formally requested clarification on which specific statutory norms justified the measure and whether the body that deliberated the dissolution acted in accordance with the party's regulations.
