Foshan worker's safety rope cut by resident for use as clothesline
A construction worker in Foshan, Guangdong, discovered that his safety rope had been cut while he was working at a height of 30 floors. The incident occurred on September 17, when the worker, identified as Mr. Liu, noticed that a significant portion of his 120-meter rope had been severed.
Upon investigation, it was discovered that an elderly man living on the second floor was responsible. The man claimed he was unaware anyone was working above and had cut the rope to use it as a clothesline.
Rather than contacting the police, Mr. Liu sought assistance from the building management to request compensation of 400 yuan for the damaged equipment, citing the man's advanced age. The incident has drawn significant criticism from social media users regarding the perceived recklessness of the act.
