FOSIS certifies 316 families after two‑year program in Calama, Chile
The Fondo de Solidaridad e Inversión Social (FOSIS), together with the Municipality of Calama, held a graduation ceremony for 316 families that completed the two‑year Programa Familias. The program, part of the Ministry of Development Social and Family’s Subsistema de Seguridades y Oportunidades, provided psychosocial and sociolaboral support, training workshops, entrepreneurship assistance, scholarships and guidance on accessing state benefits. Regional social development secretary Carlos Figueroa Barrera said the initiative reflects the government’s commitment under President José Antonio Kast to strengthen families and expand opportunities. Participants reported increased confidence and improved family planning, with one user stating, “el programa nos permitió reconocer nuestras fortalezas y también las dificultades que teníamos como familia.” The ceremony highlighted the program’s role in enhancing autonomy and quality of life for hundreds of households in the Antofagasta region.
