FOSIS expands Chilean entrepreneur support with new funding and education

FOSIS is expanding its support for entrepreneurs in Chile through new funding and educational initiatives. An additional investment of 1,385 million pesos will be used to extend the Microcredit Access Program and the Emprendamos Semilla program. These efforts aim to benefit over 22,300 entrepreneurs and potentially generate more than 4,000 new self-employed jobs.

Specifically, 385 million pesos are allocated to the Microcredit Access Program, providing coverage for 21,250 entrepreneurs who face difficulties accessing traditional banking. Loans will be managed by Fondo Esperanza or Banigualdad, with FOSIS subsidizing interest costs. Additionally, the Emprendamos Semilla program will provide 1,070 unemployed individuals with between 450,000 and 750,000 pesos for materials, alongside training and advisory services.

Complementing these financial measures, FOSIS and the Defensoría del Contribuyente (Dedecon) have launched a series of free virtual tax education workshops. These sessions are designed to help entrepreneurs understand formalization, taxation, monthly declarations, and the rights of taxpayers to ensure the long-term stability of their businesses.
