Fossacesia officials propose new safety measures for nightlife

Local authorities in Fossacesia held a meeting to address security concerns, particularly regarding the coastal area and summer nightlife management. The meeting, convened by Mayor Enrico Di Giuseppantonio, followed a tragic incident on August 9 that resulted in the death of Diomede Barchiesi.

Participants included representatives from the Carabinieri, local police, municipal administration, and various business associations. To improve safety, the municipality has introduced an experimental ban on consuming alcoholic beverages in public areas.

The administration is proposing a “Sicurezza Partecipata” (Participatory Security) initiative and a “Movida sicura” (Safe Nightlife) protocol to be submitted to the Prefecture. Proposed measures include strengthening video surveillance, improving street lighting, and increasing private security personnel in parking areas and near local businesses to ensure a safer environment for residents and tourists.
