FOSTEM STEM Initiative Wraps Up in Campania, Italy
The FOSTEM – "Il futuro è STEM" project, funded by the Fondo per la Repubblica Digitale, has concluded its activities in the Campania region. The programme involved 13 schools and directly benefited 399 students (220 boys and 179 girls), aiming to curb school dropout, increase female participation in STEM and showcase regional study‑and‑work opportunities.
Participants received 1,014 hours of innovative STEM training, 437 hours of orientation (including university and company visits) and 487 hours of sensitisation for teachers and parents. Training covered practical labs in informatics, robotics and smart‑vehicle technology, a biodiversity module by the Associazione Scienze Naturali Unite, and outdoor "forest school" sessions at sites such as the Oasi Dunale, Parco Nazionale del Vesuvio and the Forest of Cuma. The project was led by Fondazione Città Nuova ETS with partners ASNU, CeRICT, Fondazione Enrico Isaia, Maria Pepillo ETS and E.I.T.D. SRL, and supported by experts from the University of Naples Federico II and the University of Salerno.
