Fotoklub Split hosts historical photography lecture and documentary screening

Fotoklub Split is hosting two distinct cultural events focused on the history and impact of photography.

Luka Pavlović, a tourist guide and collector, will present “Split through old photographs and postcards.” His presentation covers the “golden age” of photography from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, featuring works by photographers such as Josip Karaman and Jakov Pandža. Pavlović will showcase rare items from his collection of over 1,200 pieces, including unique historical documents and the first two colorized photographs of Split.

Additionally, the club is hosting a free screening of the documentary “McCullin” at Kinoteka Zlatna vrata. The film provides an intimate portrait of Don McCullin, a prominent British photojournalist known for his black-and-white documentation of wars and humanitarian crises in locations such as Vietnam, Cambodia, and Northern Ireland. The documentary explores the responsibilities of photojournalists and the role of photography in shaping historical understanding.
