Foton Motor seeks to acquire former Nissan plant in Jiutepec

Foton Motor, a Chinese automotive company with Mexican investment and operations in Jalisco, has expressed significant interest in acquiring the former Nissan production complex in Jiutepec, Morelos.

Following Nissan's decision to relocate its operations to Aguascalientes in March, the site—which includes approximately 40 hectares at the Civac complex and an additional 10 hectares in Progreso—has become available for sale. Víctor Sánchez Trujillo, the Secretary of Economic Development and Labor for the state of Morelos, confirmed that Foton has requested information regarding the property.

Nissan has reportedly requested details about Foton to facilitate the negotiation process. State officials are scheduled to meet with Nissan executives this week to determine the status of potential proposals. The industrial site previously supported nearly 3,000 jobs in the state, and the government aims to restore industrial activity to the area.
