Foundation Robotics Deploys AMD‑Powered Humanoid War Robots

Foundation Robotics (formerly Foundation Future Industries) is advancing its Phantom line of humanoid robots for defense use. The company announced that its upcoming Phantom MK‑2 model will be built around AMD Ryzen AI Embedded X100 Series processors, which it says deliver roughly 2.5 times faster inference and three times faster training than comparable Nvidia chips. These off‑the‑shelf AMD chips are being repurposed for edge AI in the robots, not custom military silicon.

The Phantom MK‑1 has already been deployed for reconnaissance missions in Ukraine since February 2026, and the MK‑2 is positioned for broader battlefield roles. Foundation has secured $24 million in U.S. Department of Defense contracts and plans to open a factory in October 2026 with an initial capacity of 5,000 units per year, expanding to 50,000 units annually by early 2027. Industrial versions will be leased for about $100,000 a year, while defense‑grade models are priced at $300,000 each. Ukraine is reportedly preparing a grant competition that could fund such war bots, placing Foundation’s technology at the forefront of emerging autonomous combat systems.
