Foundry Robotics raises $100 million for AI-driven manufacturing

Foundry Robotics has secured $100 million in an oversubscribed Series A funding round to expand its autonomous manufacturing platform. Led by Marlinspike Partners, the round included participation from Khosla Ventures, Red Glass Ventures, SE Ventures, Wing VC, and Axiom Ventures, alongside existing investors Hanabi and Zero Shot Fund.

The company plans to use the capital to develop a 130,000-square-foot facility in Emeryville, California, which represents a twentyfold increase in its manufacturing footprint. Foundry operates under a manufacturing-as-a-service model, utilizing AI-powered robotic cells and its proprietary FoundryOS to provide flexible assembly capacity for complex electro-mechanical products.

Targeted applications include drones, autonomous vehicle subassemblies, satellites, telecommunications gear, and wire harnesses. The company aims to provide domestic assembly capacity for the defense and industrial sectors, addressing bottlenecks in traditional manufacturing where assembly lines are often rigid and slow to reconfigure.
