Fountain Valley teen critically injured in electric motorcycle crash

A 14-year-old boy was critically injured on Thursday afternoon, August 27, 2026, following a collision between an electric motorcycle and a vehicle in Fountain Valley, Orange County. The incident occurred at the intersection of Talbert Avenue and Second Street around 12:44 p.m.

According to the Fountain Valley Police Department, a westbound vehicle attempting a southbound left turn on Second Street struck the eastbound electric motorcycle, which was traveling in the bike lane. The teenager was transported to a local trauma center and is reported to be in critical but stable condition.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. Preliminary findings suggest that alcohol and drugs were not factors in the crash. The investigation into the collision is ongoing.

This incident follows a broader trend in Orange County, where emergency room data indicates a 430% increase in juvenile e-bike and e-moto injuries over the last four years. Riders aged 11 to 14 currently account for more than 60% of e-moto-related collisions in the region.
