Four Albanian students detained in Montenegro following incident in Kotor

Four high school students from the “Naim Frashëri” school in Durrës, Albania, were detained by Montenegrin police in Kotor during a school excursion. The incident reportedly occurred after a confrontation with a local resident.

According to reports, the group was questioned after an elderly woman approached the students to ask about their origins. The students allegedly responded by making the double-headed eagle symbol with their hands. The situation escalated when the woman reportedly struck one of the students and subsequently alerted law enforcement, claiming she had been provoked.

The students and their accompanying teacher were held at the local police station for several hours. Following questioning, the students were released, though local authorities reportedly advised them to avoid using national symbols during their stay. The Regional Directorate of Pre-University Education in Durrës and the Albanian Ministry of Education and Sports have been notified of the event.
