Four arrested in Chennai for Rs 1.92 crore housing fraud

The Chennai Central Crime Branch (CCB) has arrested four individuals in connection with a fraud involving Rs 1.92 crore and 713 grams of gold jewellery. The suspects allegedly cheated several victims by promising low-cost housing and apartments within the Tamil Nadu Housing Board (TNHB) and the TAISHA apartment complex using fake allotment documents.

Authorities arrested Yasmin (alias Yamini) and her husband Vivek (alias Chinna) on October 7. Following further investigation, police arrested two additional suspects on October 28: Dinesh Choudhary, a jewellery shop owner, and his father Tejaram.

In addition to the housing scam, the accused allegedly collected Rs 12 lakh from one complainant under the false pretense of securing a medical college seat for a relative. So far, investigators have recovered Rs 25 lakh.
