Four arrested in connection with July 22 ATM robbery in Cassano delle Murge, Italy
On the night of 22 July, a group of four men aged 20‑26, originating from Canosa di Puglia and Trinitapoli, carried out an armed assault on a BdM Banca – Gruppo Mediocredito Centrale ATM in Cassano delle Murge, Bari province. The perpetrators fled in a stolen maroon Alfa Romeo Giulietta, which was later intercepted by the mobile squad of the Questura of Barletta‑Andria‑Trani and police from the Canosa di Puglia commissariat. A search of the vehicle uncovered more than €35,000 in cash, damaged banknotes, ATM components, and material such as scales and empty candlesticks that investigators said could be used to manufacture homemade explosive devices (“marmotte”). The four suspects were arrested in flagrante delicto and charged with improper robbery, resistance to public officials, injuries, money laundering, illegal possession of weapons and explosives, among other offences.
