Four Black community colleges join faculty training pilot
Complete College America (CCA) has partnered with the Association of College and University Educators (ACUE) to launch a faculty training and development initiative at four historically or predominantly Black community colleges.
The participating institutions include Lawson State Community College in Alabama, Coahoma Community College in Mississippi, Baton Rouge Community College in Louisiana, and Delgado Community College in Louisiana. A cohort of faculty members will undergo the ACUE Effective Teaching Practices course to earn certification, focusing on student engagement, active learning, and course design to improve student grades, retention, and completion rates.
This initiative is an extension of the CCA Accelerator, a multi-year program funded by the Gates Foundation. In addition to the certification course, faculty and staff at these colleges will gain access to ACUE Commons, a professional learning community covering topics such as AI in higher education, workforce readiness, and holistic student support.
