Four children drown in Kedah monsoon drain

Four children drowned in a monsoon drain in Taman Desa Kayangan, Sungai Karangan, Kedah, while attempting to retrieve a football on a Monday evening. The victims, aged between 8 and 12, fell into a retention pond that was approximately 3.048 meters deep and 1.8 meters wide.

Two of the children were pronounced dead at the scene, while the remaining two passed away while being transported to Kulim Hospital. The victims have been identified as Muhammad Zafril Arsyad Muhamad Azrin (12), Muhammad Iman Nuruddin Khairol Anuar (10), Muhammad Aeril Aziz Muhamad Zafis (12), and Muhammad Arif Naufan Abdullah (8).

On Wednesday, the four children were buried together in a single grave at the Masjid Jamek Nurul Ehsan Muslim Cemetery. The funeral was attended by hundreds of family members, relatives, and friends.
