Four Colombian Police Officers Rescued After Disappearance in Cauca

Four members of the Colombian National Police – Major Andrés Felipe Sánchez Sánchez and officers Kevin Viloria, Juan David Atilano and Franklin Moreno – went missing on 26 July while patrolling the rural area of El Tambo, Cauca. A multi‑agency search involving police units, canine teams, the fire brigade and 11 volunteer residents from the nearby corregimiento of Ortega, municipality of Cajibío, was launched.

The officers were located alive in the same sector, transferred to Popayán for medical evaluation and reported to be in stable condition. The police force publicly thanked the community volunteers for their crucial role in the successful rescue, highlighting the cooperation between citizens and law‑enforcement during a period of heightened humanitarian concerns in the region.
