Four Dongguan construction workers rescued after hoist swings into wall during Typhoon Red

On July 25, as Typhoon Red approached Guangdong’s coast, a construction hoist at the Golden Land Qingyunjing residential project in Songshan Lake, Dongguan, swung violently in strong winds and repeatedly struck the building’s exterior. Four workers inside the hoist were trapped, clinging to the railings until rescue teams arrived.

The Dongguan Emergency Management Bureau and Housing Construction Bureau confirmed that all four workers were safely rescued without injury. Officials said the incident occurred before the city‑wide “four‑stop” (school, work, transport, business) order took effect at 6 p.m., prompting scrutiny over the timing of mandatory work stoppages during severe weather. An investigation into the cause and responsibility of the accident is underway.
