Four French nationals arrested after cross-border police chase

Four French nationals, aged 19 to 25, were arrested in Wolschwiller, France, following a dangerous high-speed chase that originated in Switzerland. The pursuit began after the suspects stole a high-end vehicle from a garage in Bienne on a Saturday.

The Federal Office for Customs and Border Security (OFDF) reported that the vehicle was spotted on the A16 motorway in the Jura canton. Despite the use of stop-sticks which punctured several tires, the driver engaged in dangerous maneuvers, including driving the wrong way on the motorway and through a tunnel, before crossing the border into France.

Upon their arrest, authorities discovered items in the vehicle's trunk that could be used to commit burglaries. The suspects have been handed over to the French gendarmerie, and the Public Prosecutor's Office of the Canton of Bern has opened an investigation into the vehicle theft.
