Four journalists in Apartadó, Colombia threatened by Clan del Golfo

The Fundación para la Libertad de Prensa (FLIP) reported that four journalists in the municipality of Apartadó, Antioquia, received threats within a six‑hour period. The intimidation was carried out through phone calls, messages via third parties and in‑person encounters. FLIP says the threats were made by individuals identifying themselves as members of the Ejército Gaitanista de Colombia (EGC), also known as the Clan del Golfo, in an effort to stop reporting on alleged irregularities in the municipal Secretariat of Mobility headed by Óscar David Angulo.

The journalists named by FLIP include Cristian Salá​s of Noticias El Boom, reporters from the outlet Voces de Urabá, and Yeison Rojas, who works for TeleAntioquia Noticias, Darién TV and serves as a FLIP correspondent. The foundation called on the National Protection Unit (UNP), the Fiscalía General de la Nación, the Procuraduría and local authorities to assess the risk and provide protection for the communicators, and to investigate the perpetrators.

FLIP warned that such intimidation undermines press freedom and the public’s right to receive independent information about local governance.
