Four killed in fatal Angeles Crest Highway crash

Four people were killed and two others were critically injured after a vehicle plunged off a cliff along the eastern edge of the Angeles National Forest. The crash occurred around 1:30 a.m. Friday on Angeles Crest Highway (State Route 2) between Big Pines and Wrightwood, near the Los Angeles and San Bernardino County line.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the vehicle, a black 2016 Hyundai Veloster, veered off the roadway, overturned, traveled down an embankment, and struck a power pole. Five of the six occupants were ejected from the car. Preliminary investigations suggest that alcohol may have been a contributing factor and noted that none of the occupants were wearing seat belts.

The deceased victims, all residents of Wrightwood, have been identified by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner as 21-year-old Rebeka Citlali Cabral Gonzalez, 19-year-old Jason Potter, and 20-year-old Nevaeh Harper. The two survivors were transported to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in critical condition. The crash remains under investigation.
