Four killed including Nasa indigenous leader in Florida, Colombia attack

An armed attack on a commercial establishment in the town of Florida, Valle del Cauca, left four people dead. Victims included Kwesx Yu Kiwe, the governor of the Nasa indigenous reserve, and human‑rights defender Julián Mauricio Gutiérrez Grajales. Two security personnel assigned to protect the indigenous authority – Haminton Daniel and Andrés Machín of the National Protection Unit (UNP) – were also killed.

Colombia’s Ministry of the Interior and the UNP condemned the massacre and called for immediate security measures for indigenous communities. The national government issued a public statement rejecting the escalation of violence and pledged full cooperation with judicial authorities. Indigenous leaders warned that such targeted killings threaten the physical and cultural survival of the Nasa people and demanded swift investigations and accountability.
