Four men on trial in UK for sexual assaults involving drugged woman

Four men are standing trial at Winchester Crown Court accused of raping or sexually assaulting a woman who was drugged, filmed, and advertised online by her then-husband. The defendants—Connor Sanderson-Doyle, 32, Richard Wilkins, 62, Norman Macksoni, 48, and Mohammed Hassan, 38—all deny the charges of sexual assault and rape.

The victim, Joanne Young, has waived her right to anonymity. Prosecutors allege that her former husband, Philip Young, a 50-year-old former Swindon borough councillor, repeatedly drugged her to facilitate sexual encounters with strangers he recruited via online forums. While Young previously pleaded guilty to several offences, including rape, voyeurism, and administering a substance with intent, the current trial focuses on the involvement of the four other men between 2016 and 2023.

Prosecutor Sarah Jones stated that while Philip Young presented these activities as a shared kink, there was no evidence that Joanne Young consented to the advertisements or the encounters. Police discovered the incriminating video footage after an account linked to Young posted bestiality images online in 2023, leading to the seizure of his devices.
