Four men sentenced in UK for burglary spree that hit 449 new homes
Four men were convicted of a large‑scale burglary operation that targeted newly built houses across ten counties in England. The gang broke into 449 properties between January and October 2025, stealing boilers, appliances and heat‑pump equipment and causing extensive damage, including exposed gas and water pipes. The total loss exceeded £1 million and affected developers and buyers waiting to move into the homes.
The investigation, led by the Hertfordshire Constabulary under Operation Linkage, culminated at St Albans Crown Court. Ilie Turcan (26) received four years and ten months, Tudor Ionas (25) four years and nine months, Dinis Cibotari (24) four years and two months, and Victor Borta (19) three years and eleven months in prison.
Detective Constable Tilly Andrews said the crimes posed serious safety risks and highlighted the coordination between police forces and housing developers that ultimately led to the perpetrators' identification and sentencing.
