Four militants killed in landmine blast near Poonch LoC
Four militants, including a senior Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander, were killed in a landmine explosion along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday.
The group was attempting to infiltrate from Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) into the Nangi Takri area of the Krishna Ghati sector when they triggered a mine within India’s anti-infiltration obstacle grid. The deceased have been identified as Mohammad Faizan, a top LeT commander, along with Mohammad Ishtiyaq, Mohammad Waqas, and Mohammad Asim. All four were residents of the Hajira tehsil in PoJK.
Security forces have placed the region on high alert and increased surveillance in the sector following the incident. In a related development, the Indian Army recently neutralized several weathered or rusted landmines in the neighboring Mendhar sector that had been exposed due to heavy rainfall.
