Moroccan political parties form joint parliamentary group

Four political parties in Morocco have announced the formation of a joint parliamentary group within the House of Representatives following the legislative elections held on September 23, 2026. The coalition includes the Democratic Forces Front, the Insaaf Party, the New Democrats Party, and the Unity and Democracy Party.

The new group will consist of six deputies: two from the Democratic Forces Front, two from the Insaaf Party, one from the New Democrats, and one from the Unity and Democracy Party. By pooling their seats, these smaller formations can access intermediate parliamentary rights, such as increased speaking time and participation in commissions, which they could not achieve individually.

According to a joint communiqué, the initiative aims to “consecrate parliamentary renewal” and move beyond traditional numerical power dynamics. The group intends to focus on legislative initiatives, proposing new laws, and strengthening parliamentary oversight to evaluate public policies and address citizen concerns. The parties have not officially declared themselves part of the majority or the opposition, stating their commitment to national interests and ethical parliamentary practice.
