Four nations condemn Houthi missile attempt on Medina
Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, and Jordan have issued joint condemnations regarding an attempted ballistic missile attack by Iran-backed Houthi forces against the city of Medina in Saudi Arabia.
In statements from their respective foreign ministries, the four nations expressed solidarity with Riyadh, characterizing the attempt as a violation of Saudi sovereignty and a provocation against the religious sensitivities of Muslims regarding holy sites. Qatar described the incident as a disregard for civilian lives, while Kuwait noted that the action violated international law and humanitarian law.
Bahrain specifically condemned both the ballistic missile attempt on Medina and a separate drone attack targeting Saudi Arabia’s eastern region. Bahrain called upon the UN Security Council to take deterrent measures against the Houthis and supported Saudi Arabia’s right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter. Jordan also affirmed its full support for Saudi stability and sovereignty.
