Four people charged with electoral offenses in San Juan Guichicovi, Oaxaca

On 25 January 2026, during Oaxaca's revocation‑of‑mandate election, four individuals identified by initials were linked to a criminal process for alleged electoral offenses. Acting with approximately 60 accomplices at the basic polling station in Estación Sarabia, San Juan Guichicovi, they reportedly seized unused ballots, removed ballots deposited in the urn, and later handed the material to two others who destroyed and incinerated it. A control judge issued an indictment order for the four suspects under the Federal Law on Electoral Crimes. The case was pursued by the Fiscalía General del Estado de Oaxaca through its Specialized Unit for Electoral Crimes, with the Instituto Estatal Electoral y de Participación Ciudadana de Oaxaca named as the aggrieved party. Authorities said the investigation will continue to ascertain full responsibility and protect the integrity of democratic processes.
