Four platforms for downloading free geospatial data

Geospatial data is essential for various fields, including urban planning, environmental science, agriculture, and scientific research. Several platforms provide large quantities of geographic information for free, which is particularly useful for professionals working with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and spatial analysis.

Four notable sources include:

- OpenStreetMap: A collaborative global database containing detailed information on roads, buildings, railways, rivers, and public facilities.

- HydroSHEDS: Developed with support from the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), this project provides global hydrographic data, including river networks and drainage basins, useful for flood risk studies and water resource management.
