Four police officers charged with fraud and weapons offenses in Sofia

The Sofia City Prosecutor's Office has filed indictment charges in the Sofia District Court against four police officers for complicity in fraud. The incident occurred on February 2, 2024, in Sofia.

According to the prosecution, the officers misled a driver regarding the results of a drug test, falsely claiming the test was positive. The officers allegedly convinced the driver that by paying a sum of 800 BGN, no legal action would be taken. This resulted in a property damage of the same amount.

One of the accused officers faces additional charges related to firearms and ammunition. Specifically, he is accused of failing to take necessary security measures for stored firearms and possessing 161 rounds of ammunition without proper authorization.
