QS 2027 Rankings highlight top universities across Latin America

The 2027 QS Latin America & The Caribbean University Rankings have been released, evaluating 517 institutions across 27 countries. The results highlight various regional leaders and institutional shifts.

In Venezuela, four universities placed in the top 100: Universidad Central de Venezuela (38th), Universidad Católica Andrés Bello (81st), Universidad Simón Bolívar (84th), and Universidad de Los Andes (95th). These rankings come despite significant national budgetary and structural challenges.

In Brazil, the Universidad de São Paulo (USP) maintained its second-place position in the region, followed by Universidad Estatal de Campinas (3rd), Universidad Federal de Río de Janeiro (5th), and Universidad Estatal Paulista (6th). In the state of Paraná, the Universidade Federal do Paraná (37th) and Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Paraná (96th) were the only two institutions from the region in the top 100.

Other notable regional performers include the Universidad de las Américas Puebla (UDLAP) in Mexico, which advanced three positions, and the Universidad San Francisco de Quito (USFQ) in Ecuador, which reached 29th place, becoming the top-ranked institution in its country. In Honduras, the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Honduras (UNAH) climbed into the 181–190 range, improving its standing compared to previous years.
