Four workers killed in collision on SS123 in Sicily

Four workers died following a violent collision between a Fiat Punto and a truck on the SS123 highway near Naro, in the province of Agrigento, Sicily. The accident occurred early Monday morning, shortly after 07:00, as the victims were traveling to work in the countryside.

The victims have been identified as Antonio Agrò, 65; Diego Giordano, 53; Antonio Di Vincenzo, 60; and Gioacchino Liborio. All four men were residents of Canicattì. The impact was so severe that the occupants of the car could not be saved, and firefighters had to extract their bodies from the wreckage.

The driver of the truck, also from Canicattì, sustained injuries but is reported to be in non-life-threatening condition. Investigators are examining the possibility that the crash occurred during an overtaking maneuver. Emergency services, including the Caltanissetta Highway Police, Carabinieri, firefighters, and medical personnel, attended the scene. Traffic on the SS123 was temporarily blocked in both directions to allow for investigations and vehicle removal.
