Ulm Court convicts three for vehicle sabotage attacks

Three young individuals—two men aged 18 and 22, and a 21-year-old woman—have been convicted by the Ulm District Court for property damage following a series of vehicle sabotage attacks across Germany. The group confessed to filling the exhaust pipes of hundreds of vehicles with expanding foam and attaching stickers featuring the text ‘SEI GRÜNER!’ alongside an image of former Green Party Minister Robert Habeck.

The attacks occurred in December 2024 across several federal states, including Berlin, Brandenburg, Bavaria, and Baden-Württemberg. Total financial damages are estimated to exceed 13,000 euros. The two men received fines of 3,000 euros each, while the woman was sentenced to 50 hours of community service.

Investigators and the prosecution suggest the sabotage was a coordinated attempt to influence the 2025 German federal election by targeting the Green Party. Authorities have raised concerns that the group may have acted as ‘disposable agents’ (Wegwerfagenten) recruited by an unknown employer, potentially linked to Russian intelligence efforts to conduct hybrid warfare and political interference in Germany.
