Four‑lane Hermosillo‑Bahía de Kino highway set to boost tourism in Sonora
A new four‑lane highway linking Hermosillo to the coastal town of Bahía de Kino is being built under Governor Alfonso Durazo, with the backing of President Claudia Sheinbaum. The project aims to improve road safety, connectivity and stimulate economic activity in the region.
During a visit, Froylán Gámez Gamboa – a candidate for the Coordination of the Committees for the Defense of Transformation and National Sovereignty in Sonora – highlighted the area's natural beauty, Sea of Cortez biodiversity and the oyster‑harvesting industry that supports many families. He said the highway will help position Bahía de Kino among Mexico’s top beach destinations and called for broader promotion of Sonora’s tourism potential.
