Fox and Coyote Daytime Activity Patterns Explained

Red foxes, typically nocturnal or crepuscular, may be seen during daylight for several reasons. Hunger, especially in mothers with cubs, can drive daytime foraging. Urban habituation, breeding season, reduced competition, weather conditions and human disturbance also influence their activity.

Coyotes are primarily crepuscular hunters, most active at dawn and dusk when prey is abundant. However, they adapt their hunting times based on prey availability, seasonal breeding needs, harsh weather, and human presence, sometimes hunting during the day or night to secure food.
