Fox and Sony develop animated Joe Dirt series starring David Spade

Fox Entertainment and Sony Pictures Television are developing an animated sequel series based on the 2001 cult comedy Joe Dirt. David Spade is set to reprise his role as the title character and will serve as an executive producer.

Set 25 years after the original film, the series follows Joe Dirt as a husband with three teenage daughters. The project is written by Scott Gairdner and will be executive produced by Spade alongside Fred Wolf, Doug Robinson, and Lauren Moffat. This marks a second attempt to adapt the property into animation, following a previous unproduced project developed for TBS in 2010.
