Fox News predicts Democrats may flip House in midterm elections

Fox News analysts and power rankings suggest Republicans may face significant losses in the upcoming midterm elections. The network’s latest power rankings predict Democrats could flip the House of Representatives, forecasting they could secure at least 219 seats to gain a narrow majority.

Chief political analyst Brit Hume warned that the GOP could face a “washout,” drawing parallels to the 1994 midterms where Democrats, despite President Bill Clinton’s extensive campaigning, saw Republicans gain control of the House. Hume noted that President Donald Trump’s campaign strategy, which places him at the center of the party’s efforts, may not be sufficient to prevent losses in races previously considered safe.

Several factors are cited for this shift, including President Trump’s declining approval ratings—which a Pew Research Center poll placed at 30%—and Democratic advantages on key issues such as foreign policy, inflation, and gas prices. While the House forecast leans toward Democrats, the Senate contest is projected to be much tighter, with control likely depending on several toss-up races in states including Alaska, Iowa, Maine, Michigan, Ohio, and Texas.
