Fox Sports to broadcast 35 women's college volleyball matches
Fox Sports has announced it will broadcast 35 women's college volleyball matches this season, including eight matches on the Fox broadcast network. This represents the highest number of matches aired on a broadcast network in a single season.
The schedule features the inaugural Players Era Volleyball Showcase in Las Vegas on August 30, where top-ranked Nebraska will face No. 2 Texas. The remaining 27 matches will be aired on FS1 and FS2. Other notable events include the Big Ten/SEC Volleyball Challenge Week at Wrigley Field on September 6 and the first Big Ten Volleyball Championship on November 25.
Mike Mulvihill, Fox Sports president for insight and analytics, suggested that volleyball is following a growth pattern similar to women's basketball. He noted that while the sport lacks a single mainstream star comparable to Caitlin Clark, the rising popularity of programs like Nebraska, Wisconsin, Texas, Pitt, and Louisville is driving national interest.
