Foyle Port reports record-breaking 2026 cruise season

Foyle Port has reported its most successful cruise season to date for 2026, characterized by record-breaking passenger volumes and scheduled ship calls. The season saw 22 cruise ship calls from 15 different lines, including six first-time visitors such as Ponant, Windstar, and Oceania Cruises.

The influx of approximately 19,000 passengers and crew is expected to generate an economic impact exceeding £1.1 million for the region. This represents a 32% increase in passenger numbers compared to the previous high in 2023, with visitors arriving from Europe, North America, and Asia.

A major highlight of the season was the arrival of the Nieuw Statendam, operated by Holland America Line, which was the largest ship ever to visit Lough Foyle. Looking ahead, the port aims to expand further in 2027, with projections of 36 ships and 25,000 passengers.
