Foz do Iguaçu and border cities prepare for upcoming elections

Election preparations are underway in the border region between Brazil and Paraguay. In Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil, the Regional Electoral Court of Paraná (TRE-PR) is operating the ‘Van da Cidadania’ project. This initiative allows voters to practice using electronic voting machines and receive guidance on the voting process and candidate sequences ahead of the 2026 elections.

Simultaneously, in the neighboring Paraguayan cities of Ciudad del Este, Presidente Franco, and Hernandarias, preparations are set for municipal elections on October 4. Voters in these areas will elect mayors (intendentes) and members of the Municipal Councils. In Ciudad del Este, four candidates are competing for the mayoralty, while Presidente Franco features five candidates. The elections will determine local leadership for the 2026–2031 term.
