Foz do Iguaçu to host international festival celebrating Jesuit Mission anniversary

Foz do Iguaçu will host an international event on November 7 and 8 to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the founding of the Jesuit Mission of Santa María del Iguazú. Held at the Mercado Público Barrageiro, the celebration aims to connect communities from Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay.

The initiative is part of the 30 Missionary Peoples movement, celebrating the legacy of Jesuit-Guarani Baroque heritage through music, gastronomy, art, and scientific knowledge. The event is organized by the Brazilian Association of Tourism Journalists of Paraná (Abrajet-PR), with sponsorship from Fundo Iguassu and support from Itaipu Binacional and Itaipu Parquetec.

The festival program includes a Missionary Cultural and Gastronomic Fair featuring traditional indigenous crafts and typical dishes from the four participating nations, as well as an international seminar and musical performances.
