FPÖ commemorates Jörg Haider's 40th anniversary as chairman

The Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ) held a large event at the Innsbruck Congress to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Jörg Haider being elected as party chairman. During the ceremony, FPÖ leader Herbert Kickl paid tribute to Haider, describing the date of September 13, 1986, as the party’s “actual birthday.”

Kickl presented the “Golden Medal of Merit” to Haider’s widow, Claudia Haider. Observers noted the distinction between the two leaders, noting that while Haider was instrumental in the party's rise, Kickl has achieved electoral successes that Haider did not, including recent wins in the European and National Council elections.
