FPÖ official criticizes Karner over asylum policy

Andreas Bors, the security and asylum spokesperson for the FPÖ in Lower Austria, has criticized Interior Minister Gerhard Karner and ÖVP MP Andreas Hanger regarding asylum policies. Bors argued that Karner's administration has overseen a significant increase in asylum applications, noting that numbers rose from 13,746 in 2018 to 112,272 in 2022.

Bors further contested the ÖVP's claims regarding the management of asylum quarters. He stated that Lower Austria's asylum provincial councillor, Martin Antauer, is actively closing quarters as soon as they are no longer needed to reduce the burden on local communities, contrasting this with the national government's approach.
